The Interim Independent Expert Scientific Committee on Coal Seam Gas and Coal Mining was established in January 2012 to ensure that future decisions about the potential water-related impacts of coal seam gas and large coal mining activities were informed by substantially improved science and independent expert advice. The Interim Committee was put in place pending formal establishment of the Independent Expert Scientific Committee on Coal Seam Gas and Large Coal Mining Development under legislation.
